The Nigerian Navy College of Accounts and Finance (NNCAF), Owerrinta, on Thursday, 11 June 2026, held a colourful combined graduation ceremony for participants of the Officers Basic Course (OBC) Batch 40, Petty Officers Qualifying Course (POQC) Batch 48, Leading Hand Qualifying Course (LQC) Batch 48, and Basic Qualifying Course (BQC) Batch 56. The ceremony, which brought together senior military officers, heads of security agencies, families, and well-wishers, marked the successful completion of intensive academic and professional training designed to enhance the capacity, leadership qualities, and operational effectiveness of officers and ratings of the Nigerian Navy.
Speaking at the event, the Special Guest of Honour, Rear Admiral EA Zipele, congratulated the graduating officers and ratings on the successful completion of their respective courses. He commended their resilience, discipline, and commitment throughout the training period and charged them to remain steadfast in upholding the core values of the Nigerian Navy. Rear Admiral Zipele emphasised the importance of professionalism, integrity, loyalty, and dedication to duty, noting that the knowledge and skills acquired during the courses would significantly contribute to the effective discharge of their responsibilities.
Earlier in his opening address, the Commandant, Commodore Babatunde Usman Quadri, expressed appreciation to the Naval Headquarters and the Nigerian Navy leadership for their continued support towards the development of human capacity within the Service. He noted that the successful completion of the courses reflected the College’s commitment to producing highly competent personnel equipped with the requisite professional knowledge and skills required to meet contemporary challenges in naval operations. The Commandant urged the graduands to be worthy ambassadors of the College by demonstrating exemplary conduct, professionalism, and excellence in all their future endeavours. He further encouraged them to continually seek self-improvement and apply the lessons learnt during the training to enhance service delivery and contribute meaningfully to the achievement of the Nigerian Navy’s strategic objectives.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of certificates to the graduating officers and ratings, as well as awards to participants who distinguished themselves during the courses. The recognition of outstanding students underscores the College’s culture of excellence and merit-based achievement. The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including the Commander Naval Base Oguta, Commodore ST Lengaya, the Commander 14 Brigade Ohafia, Brigadier General AM Dikko and the Commander 511 Quick Response Group Owerri, Air Commodore SP Sekegor. Other dignitaries present include the Abia State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant of Corps Odimba Chukwuemeka Nicholson; the Commander, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Commander of Narcotics Chigbu Odoemelam Chilee, as well as other senior military officers, heads of security agencies, representatives of sister services, and invited guests. The successful conduct of the Combined Graduation Ceremony further reinforces NNCAF’s role as a premier training institution dedicated to developing professionally competent and mission-ready personnel capable of supporting naval operations. The event also served as a testament to the College’s unwavering commitment to excellence in training, leadership development, and capacity building in support of national security and maritime defence.
