On 9 Sep 25, the Nigerian Navy College of Accounts and Finance (NNCAF) organised a 2-day Small Arms Firing Exercise (SAFEX) at the Obinze Firing Range, 34 Artillery Brigade, Owerri.
The exercise was aimed at enhancing weapon handling skills, marksmanship, and operational readiness of NNCAF personnel. The SAFEX began with a detailed briefing on range safety rules, followed by the grouping of participants into 10 shooting squads.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Comdt NNCAF, Cdre BU Quadri stated that the exercise serves as an avenue for improving weapons handling skills and boosting the confidence of personnel. He emphasized the importance of taking the exercise seriously to enhance proficiency and operational readiness. Cdre Quadri further charged personnel to be vigilant and adhere strictly to the range safety rules to ensure a hitch free exercise.
The 2-day exercise involved firing different calibers of live ammunition by personnel of the College. The exercise was conducted in line with the vision of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla to build a highly motivated professional naval force capable of shaping security outcomes in fulfilment of Nigeria’s national interest.
